CSF1PO
CSF1PO is a tetranucleotide short tandem repeat (STR) locus on chromosome 5 (5q32), one of the 20 CODIS core loci. Its repeat motif is [ATCT]n. In ISFG / STRNaming notation the reference sequence structure is TCTA[n]. Alleles 6-15 have been reported; the GRCh38 reference sequence corresponds to allele 13. On GRCh38 the repeat region spans chr5:150,076,324-150,076,375 (52 bp, - strand); on GRCh37/hg19 it maps to 149,455,887-149,455,938. In the pop.STR capillary electrophoresis dataset the most common allele per population group is 12 (Africa, 0.339), 12 (Native American, 0.314), 12 (East Asia, 0.404), 12 (Central and South Asia, 0.348), 11 (Europe, 0.321), 12 (Middle East, 0.341) and 12 (Oceania, 0.447). Expected heterozygosity ranges from 0.697 (Central and South Asia) to 0.761 (Africa). Sequence-based (NGS) allele frequencies from the 1000 Genomes Project and from a Brazilian NGS dataset (RAO) are also available. The locus is covered by the MPS kits PowerSeq 46GY, ForenSeq Signature Prep/Plus and MainstAY, Precision ID GlobalFiler NGS STR Panel v2 and IDSeek OmniSTR Global. STRbase reports 27 sequence variants across 11 allele designations.
These frequencies are derived from the STRs Local dataset of the SP-SMART portal (CESGA), comprising 3,809 genotyped individuals from diverse populations.
Population groups included
Central African Republic (Biaka Pygmies), Democratic Republic of the Congo (Mbuti Pygmies), Kenya (Bantu N.E.), Namibia (San), Nigeria (Yoruba), Senegal (Mandenka), Somalia, and South Africa (Bantu).
⚠️ Dataset notes (important)
The allele frequencies shown here come directly from the STRs Local dataset of SP-SMART / pop.STR.
STRhub does not modify, infer, reconstruct, or reinterpret any component of the STRs Local dataset. All methodological limitations originate exclusively from the structure, metadata availability, and design choices of the SP-SMART / pop.STR platform.
